General Motors Co. (GM) and LG Energy Solution have scrapped plans to construct a fourth plant in the US [1][2], according to the Wall Street Journal. The two companies had been in talks over what would have been a fourth U.S [3]. battery cell manufacturing plant [4][3], but the discussions were eventually canceled due to cost considerations. GM has stated that its EV sales goals for North America remain on track [5], despite the cancellation of the plant. The 3 million square foot Ultium battery cell manufacturing plant in Ohio is still under construction [4][3].
