CHICAGO - February 4, 2023: Next week launches the 2023 Chicago Auto Show, perhaps the last or even final traditional auto show in North America. News from Toyota, Volkswagen, Subaru, Jeep, Hyundai, RAM and Honda are among the reasons we’ll be reporting from the show floor.

Toyota is debuting its 2024 Grand Highlander family-oriented SUV and the brand promises “The First-Ever Grand Highlander will Have Adults Calling Dibs on Third Row Seats”. Adding a sizeable third row follows other automakers like BMW, Stellantis and GM who have made third-row comfort a competitive advantage. Note that the original Highlander launched in 2001 and is now in its fourth generation.

So, on the 8th of February we will see this all-new 2024 Grand Highlander which we expect to have a longer wheelbase than Highlander to accommodate the greater amount of adult-sized legroom, as well as “cargo space to fit seven pieces of luggage”. As Toyota also promises “sophistication” and “equipped for family adventures,” we expect Grand Highlander to offer upscale interiors and perhaps an off-road adventure-oriented variant as well.
