Rover Japan Recalls Land Rover Discovery and Honda Crossroad
02/24/97
Kyodo reports that Japan's Transport Ministry has told Rover Japan that it must recall its own Land Rover Discovery sport utility vehicle and the Honda Crossroad sport utility that it makes for sale in Japan under the Honda badge. The two models are almost identical, and both have defective front doors, which the company must fix for vehicle owners, free of charge. The recalls involve a total of 4,754 vehicles that Rover Japan and Honda imported to Japan between July 1995 and December 1996. Ministry officials say the company has reported that the driver-side front door on the vehicles has a defective locking mechanism that may allow the door to suddenly open while the vehicle is moving.
