The Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park is the 22nd race of the 32-race 1999 NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division schedule. It is a welcome stop for Tony Roper and the IWX Motor Freight racing team.

"Indianapolis is the scene of my career-best finish in the truck series," said Roper, referring to his second-place finish last year. "I've driven there in trucks and in ASA (American Speed Association) and really love racing there. I always seem to run well there and last year we were able to get a good finish. The year before last, I qualified third there for the truck race so I know I can have a pretty good run on Friday."

The Xpress Motorsports team has also enjoyed success at the .686-mile facility in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racing. The team won the pole positions for last year's truck series event at the track and has finished in sixth-place in the last two truck races there.

The Kroger 200 is a one-day show with practice and qualifying all taking place on Friday afternoon. ESPN will have live coverage of the race, while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will have live radio coverage.
