Toyota Announces 1998 Model-Year Vehicle PricesTORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 5 -- Toyota Motor Sales, USA (TMS), Inc., today announced prices for the 1998 Corolla and Avalon sedans, the Supra sports coupe and the RAV4 sport utility vehicle. The Corolla was totally redesigned for 1998, including an all-new 1.8- liter engine and revised suspension. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) will range from $11,908 for the entry-level VE model equipped with a five-speed manual transmission to $15,598 for an LE with a four-speed automatic. All 1998 Corollas to be sold in the U.S. will be built in North America at either Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Canada, in Cambridge, Ontario, or New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI), in Fremont, Calif. The 1998 Avalon features updated front and rear fascias, standard side- impact airbags and available heated front seats with memory. The MSRP will range from $24,278 for an XL model to $28,128 for an XLS. Across the line, Avalon has an MSRP increase of $843 or 3.3 percent. For 1998, Supra adds variable valve timing on normally aspirated engines. Prices will range from $30,918 for a normally aspirated model with a four- speed automatic transmission to $40,308 for a Turbo Sport Roof model with six- speed manual transmission. On average, MSRP will increase $459 or 1.3 percent. The 1998 RAV4 will feature a new grille, front fascia and multi-reflector headlamps. Inside, enhancements include a revised instrument cluster, dual cupholders, a new steering wheel and new seat fabric on four-door models. The MSRP will range from $15,388 for a 2WD two-door model with a five-speed manual transmission to $18,708 for a full-time 4WD four-door with a four-speed automatic.
