Ford Announces Vehicle Campaign

DETROIT, Nov. 5 -- Ford Motor Company will be
notifying owners of certain 1992-1993 model-year Ford Thunderbird and Mercury
Cougar vehicles of a voluntary safety recall for a fuel line concern.
Movement of the fuel lines during certain weather conditions of low
temperature and rough road vehicle operation may result in wear of the nylon
fuel lines. This condition may result in a fuel leak. There have been no
accidents, injuries or fires attributed to this concern.
This action affects vehicles located in certain Midwestern and
Northeastern states, the District of Columbia and Canada. Approximately
134,500 vehicles are affected, of which 9,500 are in Canada.
Owners of affected vehicles will be requested to return their vehicle to
their dealer to have a protective plastic sleeve installed around the nylon
section of the fuel lines. If the fuel lines are leaking, dealers will
install a fuel line replacement. The work will be completed at no expense to
owners.
