America's Car Companies Urge Safe Travel During Holiday SeasonWASHINGTON, Nov. 25 -- The following is a statement by American Automobile Manufacturers Association President & CEO Andrew H. Card, Jr.: "With the holiday season upon us and the busiest travel day of the year coming tomorrow, the American Automobile Manufacturers Association and its members, Chrysler, Ford and General Motors, remind all drivers and passengers to wear safety belts when traveling in any vehicle -- with or without air bags. Air bags are important and reliable safety features that are most effective in reducing serious injuries and protecting lives when used in combination with safety belts. Drivers should ensure that all safety belts are properly secured and children should ride in the back seat whenever possible. Children in rear- facing infant car seats should always travel in the rear with safety belts properly fastened according to the instructions of the car seat and vehicle manufacturers. Best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season." AAMA is the trade association whose member companies are Chrysler Corporation , Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation .
