Ford: Safety Recall of F-150s, F-250s, Expeditions, and Navigators

12 May 1998

Ford Announces Vehicle Campaign

DETROIT, May 12 -- Ford Motor Company is notifying
owners of approximately 1.7 million 1997 and 1998 model-year F-150, F-250,
Expedition and Navigator vehicles of a voluntary safety recall involving the
wheel lug nuts.
Due to an interference condition caused by the coating design, some of the
affected vehicles may have lug nuts that may loosen and not hold a wheel to
the vehicle.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail to have their
vehicles serviced. Dealers will inspect wheels and replace lug nuts with nuts
that have a different coating design on affected vehicles at no expense to
owners.
