Budget Signs Partnership With Northwest AirlinesLISLE, Ill., June 8 -- Budget Rent a Car Corporation, the world's third largest car and truck rental company, announces a new partnership with Northwest Airlines, effective June 1, 1998. Northwest Airlines, the world's fourth largest airline, serves more than 400 cities in over 80 countries on six continents. Budget's participation in the Northwest WorldPerks frequent flyer program will offer members the chance to earn 250 miles for each Budget rental of one day and 500 miles for each Budget rental of two consecutive days or longer. WorldPerks members must rent within 24 hours of a Northwest, KLM or WorldPerks Partner airline flight, and must present their WorldPerks membership card and boarding pass/ticket at the time of rental. "We feel that the partnership between Northwest and Budget is a good fit because they have a strong U.S. system, presence in Asia and alliances with other airlines, providing service to and from the U.S. and cities around the world," stated Mark Sotir, senior vice president, Worldwide Marketing and Reservation Operations of Budget Rent a Car Corporation. In addition to Northwest Airlines WorldPerks, Budget is a partner in select domestic and international airline frequent flyer programs including Aeromexico Club Premier, Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France Frequence Plus, Air New Zealand Air Points, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plus, Alitalia Mille Miglia, British Midland Diamond Club, El Al Israel Airlines Frequent Traveler Clubs, Lufthansa Miles & More, Reno Air QQuick Miles, Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards, Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus, United Airlines Mileage Plus and Virgin Atlantic Freeway. Members of these programs, who rent from Budget at participating locations worldwide, earn frequent flyer credits in the program of their choice.
