Mitsubishi Motors Announces Aggressive Pricing For All-New 1999 Galant; Stylish Mid-Size Sedan Combines Sparkling Performance with Exceptional Value
CYPRESS, Calif., July 27 -- Mitsubishi Motors has announced
pricing for its all-new 1999 Galant mid-size sedan, which ranges from $16,990
to $24,350*.
With a suspension tuned for spirited driving and the choice of two
high-torque engines -- a muscular, 145-horsepower** 2.4-liter four-cylinder or
a newly available, 195-horsepower(a) 3.0-liter V6 -- Galant has been
specifically developed for the needs of the U.S. market.
Four different Galant models allow buyers to choose from various degrees
of equipment, luxury and sportiness. The affordable, well-equipped Galant DE,
value-packed Galant ES and luxury Galant LS models continue, while the
performance-oriented Galant GTZ -- featuring a sport-tuned suspension -- is
new for 1999.
Every 1999 Galant -- including the entry-level DE which has a base price
of $16,990 -- is equipped with a comprehensive list of features and thoughtful
details. Standard equipment includes an automatic transmission, air
conditioning, power windows and door locks, an AM/FM/Cassette audio system, an
auxiliary 12-volt power outlet, solar tinted glass that helps filter out
ultraviolet rays, and two trip odometers.
Galant also has several conveniences which were once found only on the
most expensive luxury cars. Retained power allows the windows to be operated
for up to 30 seconds after the ignition has been turned off, and an automatic
headlamp shut-off feature lights driveways and parking lots after the driver
leaves the car. In addition, its standard air filtration system helps prevent
pollen and dust from entering the interior.

    *   Plus $420 destination/handling charges ($540 for Alaska) and $70 for
        CA/NLEV emissions
    ** 140-horsepower with CA/NLEV emissions
    (a) 190-horsepower with CA/NLEV emissions

    Galant ES -- Value-Packed and Volume-Oriented
Mitsubishi Motors is focusing its promotional efforts on the Galant ES and
Galant ES V6 which have very competitive base prices.
At $17,990 -- over $450 less than the previous generation -- the
4-cylinder Galant ES includes equipment that is customarily optional in this
price range. With fog lamps, leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote keyless
entry system, woodgrain interior accents, illuminated visor vanity mirrors,
even a cargo net in the trunk, Galant ES is a very comprehensively equipped
mid-size sedan.
Galant ES V6, with its 195-horsepower* 3.0-liter engine, adds anti-lock
brakes with four-wheel discs, and 16-inch wheels and tires. With a $19,990
base price, ES V6 is not only powerful, it has considerable value for the
money.
An available Premium Package includes alloy wheels, a power glass sunroof,
front side air bags, security system, a Mitsubishi/HomeLink(R) Universal
Transmitter, and for the 4-cylinder ES, anti-lock brakes. Galant ES Premium
has a base price of $20,500 and ES V6 Premium is $21,990.

Galant LS -- Luxury Performance Features in a Mid-Size Sedan
The luxury model in the line, the V6-powered Galant LS has sculpted side
cladding, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather seating surfaces, 8-way power driver's
seat, and a 190-watt Mitsubishi/Infinity(R) premium AM/FM/cassette with
7-speakers, separate amplifier and diversity antenna. Its base price is
$24,250.

Galant GTZ -- Performance-Oriented New Entry
A new model for 1999, the performance-oriented Galant GTZ has a
color-keyed grille and rear spoiler, 16-inch alloy wheels and white-faced full
instrumentation. With a base price of $24,350, the V6-powered GTZ adds a
sport-tuned suspension that provides even crisper handling than other Galant
models.
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc., (MMSA) was established in 1982 by
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Tokyo, and markets a full line of vehicles,
including coupes, convertibles, sedans and sport utility vehicles.
