Tiburon and Elantra Add Up to Superb Values
With More Standard Features at the Same Price

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 1 -- Hyundai Motor America
today announced suggested retail pricing on its 1999 lineup, lowering the cost
of selected Accent models and holding the prices on five Elantra models. The
price of the Tiburon sport coupe is also unchanged and both the new Tiburon
and Elantra have added standard features. Overall, the new 1999 pricing
represents a 4.8 percent reduction compared to 1998 pricing on a
sales-weighted, equipment-adjusted basis.
"Once again, Hyundai is demonstrating its steadfast commitment to offering
buyers affordable, value-packed cars," said Finbarr O'Neill, president and
chief executive officer of Hyundai Motor America. "New standard features on
selected models make them even more attractive and competitive, plus every new
Hyundai will be backed by the best warranty in the industry with a 10-year,
100,000-mile drivetrain warranty and five years of free roadside assistance."
The three-door Accent L is $100 less than it was last year while the
four-door GL automatic is reduced by $355 and the four-door GL five-speed is
$400 less.
The award-winning Elantra features aggressive new styling for 1999, plus a
standard 2.0-liter, 140-horsepower engine and standard air-conditioning. Last
year's Elantra featured a 1.8-liter, 130-horsepower engine and
air-conditioning was optional. The suggested retail prices of the Elantra GL
sedans and all Elantra wagons are unchanged from last year. The Elantra GLS
five-speed sedan has increased in price by $200 while the Elantra GLS
automatic sedan is up only $150.
The stylish Tiburon remains a top value in the sport coupe segment. The
1999 model features an upgraded sound-system as standard equipment and no
price increase.
