Dollar Days Returns to National Corvette Museum
BOWLING GREEN, Ky., Jan. 4 -- The National Corvette Museum
has named the entire month of January "Dollar Days." All month long, Kentucky
residents young and old can tour the popular attraction for just
$1 per person.
The National Corvette Museum features more than 50 corvettes, from the
1953 that started the craze to the all-new 1999 Corvette Hardtop. A special
exhibit -- Hollywood vettes -- includes cars from Corvette Summer, a 1978
movie starring local legend Annie Potts and Mark Hamill, and Death Race 2000,
an early Sylvester Stallone film. Also on display are the 1958 Corvette owned
by country music star Ricky Van Shelton, the 1967 coupe driven by Ted Danson
on the television show Cheers, and a 1959 convertible owned by the creator of
cartoon character Roger Rabbit.
According to Museum Director Wendell Strode, Dollar Days gives Kentuckians
a chance to experience what hundreds of thousands have traveled many miles to
see. "We have welcomed guests from all 50 states and most major countries,
but this January we invite our Kentucky neighbors to pay us a visit." Even if
you've been before, Strode stresses that the Museum is a "living museum" with
displays changing constantly to "keep things fresh for repeat visitors."
The National Corvette Museum is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST and
is located on I-65 at Exit 28. Visitors may also take advantage of the free
Corvette Assembly Plant factory tour, located nearby. Call (502) 781-7973 or
(800) 53-VETTE for more details. $1 Museum admission for Kentucky residents
is offered January 1-31, 1999.
