Infiniti Posts Best December Ever; December Marks Third Consecutive Record Sales Month
CARSON, Calif., Jan. 5 -- Infiniti, the luxury division of
Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA), reported total December sales of 7,019
units, up 26.9 percent from the previous year, Infiniti's best December ever.
This also marks the third consecutive record sales month for the division.
Infiniti's QX4 had its best sales month ever with 3,084 units sold in
December, up 65.5 percent from the previous year. QX4 calendar year sales
totaled 20,055 units, an 8.1 percent increase versus 1997.
December sales for Infiniti helped finish out a banner year that included
many sales accomplishments, including the QX4's record month, the best quarter
in the division's history (Oct.-Dec.) and the division's best sales month ever
in August. Total calendar year sales for Infiniti reached 63,649 units, the
second highest year in the division's history.
As the volume sales leader for the year, the Infiniti I30 posted December
sales of 2,013 units. The I30 had a strong sales year, with 26,350 units sold
in 1998.
The Q45, Infiniti's flagship luxury performance sedan, posted December
sales of 708 units, up 4.3 percent from the previous year and 38.5 percent
from the previous month. Total calendar year sales for the Q45 were 8,244
units.
The G20 continued with strong sales in December, with 1,212 units
retailed. The all-new G20, which was introduced in August of 1998, had 7,217
units retailed for the calendar year.
Total NNA sales for December, including Nissan and Infiniti divisions,
were 56,617, an increase of 11.9 percent from the previous year. Combined
calendar year-to-date sales for Nissan and Infiniti Divisions were 621,528
units.
