Shuttle Bus Service for NAIAS From Detroit Department of Transportation

8 January 1999

Shuttle Bus Service for North American International Auto Show From Detroit Department of Transportation
DETROIT, Jan. 7 -- The Detroit Auto Dealers Association
released the following Detroit Department of Transportation Shuttle Bus
Service for the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS):

    * An enhanced shuttle service plan along the People Mover route has been
developed and will be implemented during the public show portion (Saturday,
Jan. 9 through Monday, Jan. 18) of the NAIAS.

    * Two shuttle bus routes (see below) will stop at all People Mover
stations. The shuttle routes are:

      a) GREEKTOWN SHUTTLE, which stops at:
          - Cobo Center
          - Renaissance Center
          - Millender Center
          - Greektown
          - Bricktown
          - Joe Louis Arena

      b) GRAND CIRCUS PARK SHUTTLE, which stops at:
          - Cobo Center
          - Financial Center
          - Broadway
          - Grand Circus Park
          - Times Square
          - Michigan
          - Fort/Cass

    * These two separate, shorter routes will optimize the frequency of
shuttle arrival and departure at each station (avg. wait of 2.5 minutes
between buses) and minimize the travel time to and from the show (avg. of 10
minutes between Cobo and Grand Circus Park, the furthest point on the route).

    * Shuttle fare will be 50 cents each way (same as People Mover).

    * Shuttle service will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 11 p.m. each day of
the public show.

    * This service will be in addition to the People Mover shuttle bus
service currently in place.

    * D-DOT will be supplying the additional coaches required (as well as
additional standby coaches, if needed) to facilitate the service.

    * In addition to D-DOT's contribution, the NAIAS (in partnership with
Commuter Transportation) will be offering complimentary shuttle service
between Cobo and Joe Louis Arena, and between Cobo and the riverfront parking
lots at Renaissance Center.

    * All buses and staging points along each route will be identified with
color-coded signage to allow for easy recognition.

    * These transportation arrangements will be implemented regardless of the
People Mover's status during the show. Should the People Mover be
operational, it will then serve to enhance this public transportation package.

    * With this transportation package in place, the North American
International Auto Show will be more convenient to attend than ever before.

NOTE: During the media and supplier preview portion of the show (through
Friday, Jan. 8), the shuttle transportation provided will service the Marriott
(formerly Westin) Hotel, the Atheneum, and the Marriott Suites (formerly
DoubleTree) Hotel to allow the more than 6,000 journalists and suppliers
staying at these properties expedient transportation to and from the show.
This service will begin each morning at 6:30 a.m. and run until 11 p.m.
