Hertz Introduces Its Popular 'Freedom Rate' in Europe; Travelers to Germany Enjoy a Special $21 Economy Rate; In the UK $27PARK RIDGE, N.J., April 28 -- Effective May 3, 1999 The Hertz Corporation , the world's largest car rental company, will begin offering travelers heading to Europe its popular Freedom Rate. Hertz' Affordable Europe Freedom Rate allows customers to pick up and drop off whenever they want with no higher rates on extra days. A Saturday night keep is required. In Germany, exclusive non-prepaid economy rates start at $21 and in the United Kingdom, exclusive non-prepaid economy rates start at $27, each of which are available through June 30, 1999. "The extension of Freedom Rates to Europe will allow our customers the same type of flexibility that they currently enjoy in the U.S.," remarked Elliot Friedman, Division Vice President, Travel Industry and Commercial Marketing. "This is just another example of our global commitment to making the car rental process as easy as possible." To receive Hertz' Freedom Rates, customers just need to ask for FRDM. Advance reservations of eight hours are required and all standard rental qualifications apply. In addition to Germany and the United Kingdom, Freedom Rates are available at participating corporate airport locations in Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland. Freedom Rates are available on most car classes including compact, intermediate and full-size vehicles. Rates are subject to availability and black-out periods may apply.
