HILL CLIMB ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER WEBCAST OF ANNUAL "RACE TO THE CLOUDS" '99 Hill Climb Will Be Webcast July 4 at www.ppihc.com COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 28, 1999) -Recognizing the worldwide fan base of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, race officials announced today that this year's 77th annual "Race to the Clouds" will be webcast at http://www.ppihc.com on July 4. "We have a tremendous following among racing fans worldwide and thought this would be a great way to give them up-to-the-minute information on the 1999 race," said Neil Klockziem, general manager of Hill Climb sponsor KRDO. "We're breaking new ground with this webcast, and I think that it's going to make a lot of fans who weren't able to attend the race very happy." The webcast will begin at 10:00 a.m. on July 4 and feature still shots of the race updated every three minutes, results from each division, as well as audio from The Jock AM-1240 KRDO, which will be broadcasting live from the Peak. The webcast is presented through a partnership between KRDO, Internet Express (http://iex.net), DaveSpeed WebDesign (http://davespeed.com), SidecarCross.com, and Free Wave Technologies (http://www.freewave.com). Tickets for the 1999 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb are available online at http://www.ppihc.com, the Hill Climb Auto Educational Museum in Manitou Springs, King Soopers throughout Colorado, Tire Centers Inc. in Colorado Springs, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and Colorado Springs military installations. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is held annually on July 4 in cooperation with the City of Colorado Springs and the U.S. Forest Service. The Race attracts an international field of auto, truck, and motorcycle competitors. Its 12.42-mile course on a groomed gravel highway to the 14,110 ft. summit of Pikes Peak is open to the public. The event is presented by ADT Automotive. The 1999 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is dedicated to racing legend and longtime Hill Climb competitor Bill Daniels, who died suddenly of cancer in April, 1999.
