Saab Announces Voluntary Recall

17 September 1999

Saab Announces Voluntary Recall
NORCROSS, Ga., Sept. 17 -- Saab Cars USA, Inc., importer of
Saab automobiles, announces a voluntary recall of 5,132 early 1999 Saab 9-3
Coupes and Convertibles with manual front-seat adjustment for replacement of a
plastic sleeve and a cable in the seat mechanism.
On a limited number of cars, Saab has found that failure of the "Easy
Entry" cable in the front driver and passenger seats can cause the seat
fore/aft adjustable mechanism to become unlocked. No accidents or injuries
have been reported. The cable and plastic sleeve will be replaced with a
redesigned cable assembly.
U.S. owners of affected Saab 9-3 cars will be notified by mail beginning
in October 1999, and will be asked to schedule a free installation at an
authorized Saab dealership at their convenience.
