Infiniti Reports Best Year and Best Month Ever with Sales of 72,637 Units - Calendar Year Sales up 14.1% Versus Prior Year -CARSON, Calif., Jan. 4 -- Boasting the best sales year in its ten year history, Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan North America (NNA), reported total 1999 sales of 72,637 units, a 14.1 percent increase versus 1998. Total sales for 1999 surpassed Infiniti's previous record set in 1997, by over 7,000 units. Contributing to Infiniti's record-setting year was its best-ever sales month of 7,801 units in December, a 11.1 percent increase versus last year. Other notable achievements for the division include: -- Total QX4 sales for December were 3,229 units, a record month, with calendar year sales totaling 19,199 units. -- The all-new 2000 I30 mid-luxury sedan continues with strong sales of 31,042 units, posting a 17.8 percent increase over the previous year, with sales of 2,768 units in December. -- The G20 sedan posted sales of 1,393 units in December, a 14.9 percent increase over last year. Total G20 sales for the year were 16,108 units. -- Infiniti's flagship Q45 performance sedan posted calendar year sales of 6,271 units, with December sales of 410. NNA sales for calendar year 1999, including Nissan and Infiniti Divisions, totaled 677,212 units, a 9.0 percent increase versus the previous year. Combined, December sales for the divisions were 60,915 units, a 7.6 percent increase versus the previous year. "Infiniti Division completed calendar year 1999 with record-setting sales and December was the best month of any we've ever had. Thanks to a strong retailer group and product lineup, we enter the new year with tremendous sales momentum and a vibrant economy, which is the perfect way to cap our Tenth Anniversary as a luxury vehicle brand. Looking ahead, we will introduce the new, 2001 QX4 with the most powerful V6 in class, at the Los Angeles Auto Show on January 5. Adding to our enthusiasm and brand awareness, we will debut our first-ever concept car, the XVL, at the Detroit Auto Show later this month," said Tom Orbe, vice president and general manager, Infiniti Division.
