Visteon: For Your Listening Pleasure - Any Music, Any Time, AnywhereLAS VEGAS, Jan. 5 -- Imagine your complete personal music collection in your car or truck. Now imagine adding to your listening pleasure at any time by accessing radio stations across the country no matter where you're driving. These are the benefits of two new technologies -- Flexible Audio and Satellite Digital Audio Radio System -- developed by Visteon Automotive Systems and on display at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). "Visteon is dedicated to helping consumers extend their lifestyles into their vehicles," said Steve Delaney, Visteon's vice president of interior and exterior systems. "These Visteon technologies enhance the driving experience by providing consumers with a fully customized audio system." Visteon's Flexible Audio combines compressed file playback technology and efficient memory storage to give drivers the ability to integrate all sources of audio information for use in their car. Compressed audio files can be either downloaded from the Internet onto a PC or converted from CDs using PC software. Visteon's Satellite Digital Audio Radio System provides continuous cross- country in-vehicle music, information and entertainment. A subscription-based service, this technology promises to do for radio what cable television did for TV by linking drivers with up to 100 radio stations at any one time. "Together, Visteon's new audio technologies dramatically expand consumer choice, and are examples of Visteon's focus on delighting consumers with vehicle technology that enhances their lives," said Delaney. Visteon's Satellite Digital Audio Radio System will be available as an original equipment option in the 2001 model year. The release date for Visteon's Flexible Audio has not been established. With a global delivery system of nearly 125 technological, manufacturing, sales and service facilities located in 21 countries, Visteon is leveraging the talents of its 77,000 employees to deliver innovative, consumer-driven systems solutions to its customers.
