New Crash Test Results
Available on NHTSA's World Wide Web Site
The U.S. Department of Transportation's latest crash test results for model year 2000 vehicles are now available on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) World Wide Web site: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov.
Rated for frontal impact are the Volkswagen Jetta four-door, DaimlerChrysler Neon four-door, Volkswagen Passat four-door, Subaru Legacy four-door, Hyundai Elantra four-door, Lincoln Town Car four-door, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 extended cab pickup, Toyota Tundra extended cab pickup, Nissan Xterra four-door utility, Isuzu Rodeo four-door utility, and DaimlerChrysler Dodge Caravan van.
Rated for side impact are the DaimlerChrysler Neon four-door, Nissan Maxima four-door, DaimlerChrysler Chrysler LHS four-door, Chevrolet Impala four-door, Chevrolet Malibu four-door, Mazda MPV van, and Ford Windstar van.
For both frontal and side impact, the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) reports crash test results in a range of one to five stars, with five stars showing the best crash protection for occupants. Frontal tests should be compared only with other vehicles in the same weight class.
