Winners to Be Announced by Detroit Press Club Foundation Jan. 9 At Cobo Center in 2000 International Wheel Awards CompetitionDETROIT, Jan. 7 / -- The Detroit Press Club Foundation will honor winners in the 2000 International Wheel Awards competition on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 9, at Cobo Conference Center. Journalists representing 16 publications and stations in the United States and Canada are among finalists. Media outlets that will be represented include: Business Week, Fortune, USA Today, Newsweek, Automobile, Automotive Industries, Ward's AutoWorld, Car and Driver, The Sports Network, Canadian Broadcasting Corp., Maryland Public Television, AutoWeek on Speedvision, Chicago Tribune, Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News, and the Los Angeles Times. The Wheel Awards program, sponsored for the second year by the automotive practice at Arthur Andersen, L.L.P., is scheduled Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Cobo Conference/Exhibition Center, Skyline Room, 2nd Floor. There will be an open bar and hors d'oeuvres. According to Edward Lapham, president of the DPCF and editor of Automotive News, the Wheel Awards competition was established by the 35-year-old Foundation as an extension of its charter to foster excellence in journalism and in recognition of Detroit and Michigan's global significance in the auto industry.
