Weyerhaeuser Centennial Exhibit Rolls into Town

COLUMBUS, Ohio--Feb. 18, 2000--Starting Feb. 23rd, people in the Central Ohio area will get a chance to see an exhibit that's been 100 years in the making.
The exhibit, an 18-wheel tractor-trailer, is a key element of Weyerhaeuser Company's Centennial celebration. The exhibit traces the company's history from its founding in 1900, to its current position as one of the world's largest forest products companies.
"It's like going to a museum, only we deliver," said Gary Sams, General Manager of Weyerhaeuser Building Materials, Columbus, Ohio. "At first glance, it looks similar to any other 18-wheeler on the highway. But this is no ordinary big rig. Inside is an exhibit that celebrates the past, present and future of a 20th Century American success story."
The exhibit will be at the Columbus Marriott Northwest, 5805 Blazer Parkway, Dublin, Ohio, (Interstate 270 at the Tuttle Crossing Exit), from Feb. 23 through Feb. 24. It will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and admission is free. The exhibit is being displayed in conjunction with the Ohio Lumbermen's Association's new training concept for member companies called Product Knowledge High.
This is the 22nd stop of the truck's North American Tour. The truck will visit Weyerhaeuser communities through the year 2000. Weyerhaeuser celebrated its Centennial on Jan. 18, 2000.
"The goal of the traveling exhibit is to provide Weyerhaeuser people, their communities and all interested parties an opportunity to participate in our Centennial celebration," Sams said.
To tell the story of Weyerhaeuser, the exhibit uses graphical and fiber optic displays, videos about how wood products are made, the impact of the Mount St. Helens volcanic eruption on surrounding forests, examples of the more than 5,000 products made from trees, and even a talking squirrel.
