Pharos Launches the World's Most Accurate, Smallest and Fastest GPS Unit
TORRANCE, Calif. - Pharos today launched their new GPS unit, the iGPS-180. The iGPS-180 is by far, the most accurate, smallest and fastest unit available on the market. Unlike other GPS receivers on the market which require separate antennas or wires, the iGPS-180 is an integrated receiver with a built-in patch antenna, its enormous technological profile is counter-balanced by its ultra-small size; the iGPS-180 has the dimensions of a matchbook. The iGPS-180 was developed with the versatility to connect to all PDA applications as well as laptops. The iGPS-180 was designed with automotive consumer-applications in mind; placed on the dashboard, near the windshield, the iGPS-180 will give accurate readings of 12 channel satellites. The GPS has an average accuracy of 7-8 yards, which makes it ideal for accurate turn-by-turn mapping. The iGPS-180 is an inexpensive, flexible alternative to traditional car navigation systems and dash-mountable GPS receivers."We are very pleased to release this first of its kind, low-cost, integrated GPS receiver to the market, since it fills a real need for busy mobile users who value location information and directions," stated James Oyang PhD., founder and Chairman of Pharos Inc.
The iGPS-180 connects to any standard 9-pin serial data port with the included cable, and also draws the required power through the attached PS/2 connector. This allows it to interface with laptops, Palm(TM) Handhelds and Windows(R) CE-based Pocket PCs, turning products with the appropriate software into highly mobile navigation systems. The iGPS-180 was designed to bring truly accurate and mobile navigation guidance for in-vehicle, marine, and recreational consumers and markets.
The iGPS-180 will enhance mobile users' productivity by fulfilling the need for real-time position information, mobile navigation, and highly sophisticated turn-by-turn routing of street-level maps, all simultaneously and without user intervention while driving. The iGPS-180 is excellent for car navigation, automobile tracking, vehicle monitoring and dispatching, outdoor activities positioning, and marine and boaters guidance. The iGPS-180 is the most advanced integrated GPS receiver in the world. The iGPS-180 is now available for $199 (MSRP).
