The Favorite Cars of Comparison Shoppers: August 2000 PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 11 InvoiceDealers, The Leader in
Automotive Comparison Shopping, released the favorite cars, trucks, SUVs and
minivans of online comparison shoppers in August 2000.
About the Study
The Comparison Shopping Popularity Index(SM) calculates each vehicle's
popularity using a proprietary weighted formula. The study results are
derived from online selections made by car shoppers who view, compare, and
choose from instant competing price quotes on the InvoiceDealers system.
August Results
The Honda Accord held onto first place in Cars for the third month in a
row. The BMW 3 Series and Volkswagen Passat fell from the top 10 as the
Toyota Corolla and Ford Taurus debuted at 8th and 9th place respectively.
There was no contest in Trucks, as the Ford F-Series ran laps around its
competitors for the 6th straight month. Shoppers favored it 2 to 1 over any
other truck.
The Ford Explorer is also a 6-time defending champion in the SUV category.
All other sport utility vehicles traded positions, except for the Nissan
Xterra which stayed in 6th place.
For the first time in 2000, the Toyota Sienna dethroned the Honda Odyssey
as the favorite minivan on the Popularity Index.
