Evenflo and Transport Canada Announce Car Seat Safety Alert

    OAKVILLE, Ontario--Oct. 24, 2000--

Instructions for some seats inadvertently provide incorrect weights.
Correct weights stated on labels, packaging, and inside
    front cover of instructions.

Evenflo Canada, Inc., in cooperation with Transport Canada is notifying purchasers of approximately 2559 Conquest(R) V and Horizon(R) V child car seats that a portion of the printed instruction book for these seats inadvertently contained an incorrect maximum weight for using the seat rear-facing. The correct information is on the car seat's permanently attached labels, packaging, and inside the front cover of the instruction book.
The following models are affected: Model numbers 4201D8C, 4201D9C and 4201K1C manufactured from April 10, 2000 to September 9, 2000, model numbers 4251D9C manufactured from January 21, 2000 to September 9, 2000, and model 4291069C manufactured from February 16, 2000 to September 9, 2000. The incorrect information is contained under the section entitled "Rear Facing Infant Use".
The model number and manufacturing date for each seat can be found on a label on the back of the seat. These seats, as all Evenflo car seats, meet or exceed all applicable Canadian safety standards. All car seats currently available for sale at retail stores have the corrected instruction books.
Evenflo and Transport Canada urge users of these and all child car seats to review the permanent labels and instructions, which accompany the car seats, and their vehicle owner's manual for proper installation and use of car seats. Consumers who have any questions are encouraged to call Evenflo toll free at 800-233-5921.
