Fuel-Saving Liberator Muffler By Advanced Exhaust Technologies Meets 2002 California Noise Standards
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 18 The fuel-saving Liberator
muffler by Advanced Exhaust Technologies LLC (AET) is the only muffler in the
heavy truck industry that meets stringent 2002 noise standards adopted by the
State of California, the company said today.
"The strongest commercial appeal of our new product is its ability to
increase fuel economy by 0.3 miles per gallon to 1.2 mpg," said Richard D.
Bergesen, President and Chief Executive Officer of AET. "These mileage gains
can translate into thousands of dollars of savings in diesel fuel costs per
truck, per year."
"What is interesting is that intent of the Liberator's inventor, Stephen
G. Heuser, was to meet noise standards set by the State of California for
2002," Bergesen said. "Which he did. The Liberator lowers noise levels to
76 dbA. The best conventional mufflers can do is 80 dbA. The fuel economy
advances are an unexpected, but welcome consequence of Steve's unique design."
In test drives on various Class 8 truck configurations, under a wide
variety of load levels and weather conditions, the patented new Liberator
muffler has delivered impressive fuel economy gains for heavy trucks that
average between 5 mpg and 7 mpg.
Drivers who have installed the Liberator also appreciate how it lowers
noise levels.
"These are twice as quiet as my other mufflers," said Rich Glenn, a 14-
year trucking veteran from Buffalo, Mo. "I used to set my radio volume at 10.
Now I hear it fine at five."
Glenn added that his mileage has improved by 0.5 mpg to 0.7 mpg since he
equipped his 2000 model Freightliner Classic High Style with a Liberator
muffler.
Under development for 10 years and field tested since January 1997, the
Liberator dramatically reduces back pressure, enhancing engine performance,
increasing turbo boost, improving response and reducing the need for drivers
to downshift.
Offered exclusively by AET, the Liberator debuted publicly in November at
the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Tex. It is made of stainless
steel and comes with a lifetime guarantee to original owners.
Founded in 1999 with headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., AET is the only
company in the heavy truck muffler industry that makes a specific mileage
improvement claim for its product. For more information, visit the AET web
