Injured IRL Racer Brad Murphey Has 5-Hour Operation
10/02/96
Brad Murphey, one of the dozen IRL drivers who crashed in turn 2-3 at the Las Vegas inaugural race two weeks ago, underwent a five-hour operation in Indianapolis to repair damages to his right side/pelvis area. He will be released in about two weeks and, according to the Doc, he should be able to return to the cockpit. That means all the drivers who "bit the dust," i.e., all those who fell victim to the blowing sand that covered the track, are now on the mend.
