You might think the two major Detroit newspapers would have some of the best auto writers in the country – and you would be right. The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press usually dominate the International Wheel Awards in the newspaper categories. But excellence in automotive journalism is found as well in magazines, internet, news services, radio and TV. They will all be honored next week at the Wheel Awards event in Dearborn, MI.

The Detroit Press Club Foundation has presented the International Wheels Awards for over 40 years. Within those categories listed above are subcategories for pure news stories, editorial commentary, product reviews, photojournalism, documentaries and subject-related series. This year’s competition drew 125 entries from all over the US.

The awards event is presented at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn on Thursday, April 26th. The AHoF is located on Oakwood Boulevard at the site of The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. A reception with wine and food begins at 6:00 PM with the awards presented around 7:00. The cost is $25.

You might want to come and rub elbows with some of these interesting folks. Contact Sally Ann Brown at PRfxNOW@aol.com or 248-652-1987. You may also like to check out the winners list posted at 6 PM on the evening of the event at wheelawards.com and at icnpr.net.
