"Ideas and Innovation Are Around the Corner..." But That's Not Enough, Says Shell Oil President Hofmeister - Multiple Videos

SACRAMENTO - April 18, 2008:

Outgoing Shell Oil president John Hofmeister gave a spirited key note speech at this week's Low Carbon Fuels Conference in which he lauded the potential for wind power and hydrogen but denounced America's inability to get out of its own way to make things happen.

Speaking the first annual Low Carbon Fuels Conference in Sacramento, Mr. Hofmeister told the audience that there is no shortage of oil and that (great) "ideas and innovations (for alternative energy) are just around the corner..." but that America must overcome its "Ungodly resistance to (industrial) infrastructure development by anyone who can."

Chevron VP Don Paul presented the morning key note speech, "Facing the Hard Truths About Energy," and Mary Nichols, Chair of California Air Resources Board, talked about California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard.

Tom Fulks and Michael Coates from the Diesel Technology Forum talked about diesel fuel new important role in helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
