Military Personnel, Immediate Families Offered Free CARFAX Vehicle History Reports Through April 24

FAIRFAX, Va.--April 15, 2003--CARFAX is offering free Vehicle History Reports to all U.S. military personnel and their immediate families from April 15 to April 24, 2003.
CARFAX Vehicle History Reports confirm a clean title history or identify problems with used cars, including salvage history, odometer fraud, flood damage and more.
"CARFAX acknowledges that military personnel, more than ever, are relocating around the country and being deployed around the world," said Dick Raines, President, CARFAX. "Military families must deal with many logistical challenges when being transferred. CARFAX wants to make one thing easier for them. If they are buying a used car, we want them to easily be able to access information about that vehicle so they can avoid a purchase with costly hidden problems."
In addition, military personnel may find themselves having to sell a vehicle in a short amount of time. CARFAX Vehicle History Reports can show potential buyers the clean history of their vehicle, enabling them to negotiate a fair but fast sale.
Military personnel and their families need only go to http://www.carfax.com/military and answer a few quick questions. This will lead them to a link where they simply enter the 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the car they are considering.
This link will provide a CARFAX Vehicle History Report based on access to more than two billion vehicle history records available through the CARFAX nationwide database. CARFAX will issue one free Vehicle History Report per household.
Military personnel and their families may also take advantage of the free "Find a Dealer" and "Find a Car" services on www.carfax.com to quickly locate local CARFAX Certified Cars as well as dealers who usually provide reports free of charge.
While stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Sergeant Johnny Drummond was able to use a CARFAX Vehicle History Report to research his 1988 Chevy Corvette.
"As a U.S. soldier stationed overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, I was able to use (CARFAX) to check the status of my 1998 Corvette online," Drummond said. "I can't thank you enough - you saved me a lot of time and effort researching my car. Your information is well worth it. I was able to purchase my car online with confidence."
"In these tenuous times, CARFAX wants to support U.S. troops by providing them a useful service," Raines said. "If our troops or their families are faced with having to buy a car, this program provides them valuable information to make smart buying decisions."
