Cars Guide Announces Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG as 2013 Car of the Year - "This is a Supercar in Hot Hatch Form"

MELBOURNE – Dec 6, 2013: Cars Guide has awarded the Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG as its 2013 Car of the Year.

Described as a ‘Screaming Benzer’, the Cars Guide judging panel were unquestionably impressed with the Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG, determining it to be the stand-out vehicle for 2013, among strong competition. Cars Guide Editor Paul Pottinger asserted that “This is a supercar in hot hatch form, one that futureproofs this noble line against the eventual legislatively driven extinction of throbbing V8’s. Off the line, it bashes up almost anything this side of $250,000.”

The Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG contains the most powerful series production four-cylinder engine in the world, delivering a maximum output of 265kW and up to 450Nm of torque. The 2.0L turbocharged engine in combination with the performance oriented AMG 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive system, leads to extremely dynamic performance, accelerating from 0 – 100km/h in just 4.6 seconds.

The Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG is now on sale to customers in Australia for $74,900 (MRLP).
