SUSSEX, England - June 28, 2014: The second day of track action at the 22nd running of the Goodwood Festival of Speed saw some of the rarest Mercedes-Benz models ever created being unleashed as well as the global public debut of the latest addition to the current range – the new generation CLS-Class.
On the Goodwood Hill, the Silver Arrows in the form of the W 125, the W 165 R, the W 165 R Streamliner and a more contemporary Silver Arrow, a MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One car from 2012 proved to be crowd favourites. For sheer drama, the epically loud (and very orange) SLS AMG GT3 S proved difficult to beat while the beautiful 300 SLS took on the Hill.
Away from the track, the Mercedes-Benz Exhibition stand proved a hit, with visitors being able to get up close to modern road and race cars from Mercedes-Benz as well as experiencing the sensation of lapping Silverstone in the current MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS W05 formula one car via Oculus Rift devices. Drivers extending back through 120 years of motorsport participation were celebrated in a display running the length of the Exhibition stand.

One of the highlights of the day was the arrival of the new generation CLS-Class – featuring a fresh new look, new technologies, new engines and, for the first time, a nine-speed gearbox.
A parade made up of the new generation CLS-Class took to the Goodwood Hill to give the estimated 50,000 people attending, a glimpse of the new car – the first right-hand drive examples of which arrive in the UK in September.
Tomorrow at Goodwood Lewis Hamilton is set to make an appearance – meeting fans and driving a MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One car.
