Macau F-3 Grand Prix
24 November 1998
Brazilian driver Ricardo Mauricio was second in the Macau F-3 GP, in one of the tightest finishes ever in motor racing. Scot driver Peter Dumbreck won the Macau F-3 Grand Prix with 0s003 of advantage over brazilian Ricardo Mauricio, that had his first race with Paul Stewart Racing. "For the first time I had a good car" said Mauricio, while climbing out of the car after race finish. Enrique Bernoldi, also from Brazil, finished 3rd and showed that the new brazilian generation is very good. Both drivers, Ricardo Mauricio and Enrique Bernoldi, will be in F-1 Junior next season, and expect doing a good job to reach F-1 in 2000. Luciano Burti that race for Paul Stewart Racing, had problemas in qualifying and started 24th, but after the first leg was already 10th, and on the second leg was already in 4th place, when misjudged Peter Dumbreck and crashed into the barrier. Burti will do another F-3 season in England with Paul Stewart Racing. "I liked the Guia circuit a lot, and even if I am upset after losing in this way, I am very happy to show all that with a good car, I can set the pace" said Mauricio.
