Titan Laboratories Introduces Titan CheckUp Engine Analysis - New Product Reveals Engine Problems With 4 Ounces of Dirty Oil
DENVER--(AutomotiveWire)--Oct. 26, 1998--Titan Laboratories announced today that it will introduce Titan CheckUp Engine Analysis, a powerful new consumer product that diagnoses engine problems from a sample of dirty engine oil, at Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week in Las Vegas on November 3.
The launch of Titan CheckUp means that, for the very first time, consumers will have access to the same professional oil analysis technology that has saved commercial and industrial fleet customers millions of dollars in maintenance costs since the technology was developed in the 1950's.
"Titan CheckUp Engine Analysis is the first in a series of predictive maintenance products which will eventually include all major vehicle components," said Don Siegel, President of Titan Laboratories. "This is truly the first new consumer automotive product in a long, long time."
Titan CheckUp is fast, easy to use and requires no special skills, tools or knowledge. All materials necessary for taking and sending an oil sample are included in the package. The consumer drains four ounces of oil into a sample bottle during a regular oil change, fills out a label and sends the sample to Titan Laboratories for analysis in a postage-paid shipping box. Results are provided in the form of an Engine Report which includes information on engine condition and recommendations for maintenance. If serious problems are found, all tests are rerun to confirm the results and a technician calls the consumer to discuss the problems.
The science behind Titan CheckUp Engine Analysis was developed in the 1950's and is based on the fact that dirty oil contains valuable information about the condition of an engine. Every time an engine runs, the oil picks up microscopic particles of metal from moving parts and other contaminants such as dirt, water, fuel and antifreeze. Titan Laboratories performs over fifty tests to detect and measure metals, contaminants and oil quality. The result is an accurate analysis of an engine's condition which reveals the source of current and potential problems.
If a consumer uses Titan CheckUp regularly, Titan Laboratories compares past test results with current results in order to detect changes in wear patterns for that engine. This process, called trend analysis, can provide the earliest possible warning of potential engine problems.
Titan Laboratories backs Titan CheckUp with a Total Satisfaction Guarantee and a 4 month, 4000 mile, $1000 Engine Protection Warranty. Under the Total Satisfaction Guarantee, Titan Laboratories will refund the purchase price of the product if the consumer is dissatisfied for any reason. The Engine Protection Warranty is offered to qualified vehicles which receive perfect scores on the Engine Report. If an engine fails during the 4 month, 4000 mile period, Titan Laboratories will pay up to $1000 toward the repair or replacement of the engine. (The Engine Protection Warranty can be found on Titan's web site at http://www.titancheckup.com or provided upon request.)
The primary benefit to consumers is saving money on engine maintenance and repair costs because problems can be found and fixed before serious problems occur. If a consumer has an engine problem, Titan CheckUp can provide better information about the nature of the problem. For consumers with older vehicles, Titan CheckUp can provide peace-of-mind with accurate information about the condition of the engine and the financial benefit of the Engine Protection Warranty. Titan CheckUp is also a valuable tool for buyers and sellers of used cars, trucks or boats.
Titan CheckUp is recommended for use with any gasoline or diesel vehicle including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, recreational vehicles and farm equipment. Titan Laboratories also believes that Titan CheckUp will be adopted by smaller commercial and industrial customers who are not using Titan's current predictive maintenance programs.
Titan CheckUp will be sold in a single-test kit for the consumer automotive market and a ten-test kit for professional markets such as quick lube shops, automotive service centers, car dealerships, small commercial fleets and farms. The retail price for a single test is expected to be less than $20. There is no additional cost for the Total Satisfaction Guarantee or Engine Protection Warranty programs.
Titan Laboratories has secured the services of leading manufacturer representative firms which cover all 50 states. Titan Laboratories is currently in discussions with several major retailers as part of its overall program of building a multi-channel national distribution network. Titan CheckUp is also available for purchase through the Titan Laboratories web site at http://www.titancheckup.com.
Titan Laboratories is the leader in predictive maintenance. Since 1978, Titan has helped commercial and industrial customers around the world reduce maintenance costs and avoid unexpected downtime through predictive maintenance programs based on the laboratory analysis of engine oil and other vehicle fluids. Titan is now committed to bringing the benefits of professional predictive maintenance technology to consumers worldwide.
