Asbury Automotive Group Announces Seven Acquisitions Year-to-Date

Combined Annualized Revenue in Excess of $850 Million

    STAMFORD, Conn. - Asbury Automotive Group, the third largest dealership group in the United States, today announced the completion of seven separate acquisitions year-to- date. The acquisitions consist of high-quality franchises and dealerships, which will significantly enhance the Company's position in markets with established platforms. The combined annualized revenue of the seven acquisitions totals over $850 million. Including these acquisitions, Asbury Automotive Group had 83 dealerships, operating 120 franchises as of June 30, 2000.


Highlights

- Tampa, Florida - Nissan, Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz
  franchises, acquired from Precision Enterprises of Tampa, Inc.,
  join Asbury Automotive Group's Courtesy platform.

- Jacksonville, Florida - The Buddy Hutchinson companies join the
  Coggin platform, adding Toyota, Chevrolet, Honda and Mazda
  franchises to the Jacksonville, Florida market. Buddy Hutchinson
  will play an active role in the management of the Coggin platform
  and has become an Asbury Automotive Group shareholder.

- Jackson, Mississippi - The Mark Escude companies in Jackson,
  Mississippi, have become part of Asbury Automotive Group's McLarty
  platform adding Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Daewoo franchises.
  These franchises will retain the Mark Escude name. Mr. Escude has
  become an Asbury Automotive Group shareholder and continues to be
  responsible for the operations of the acquired franchises.

- Fayetteville, North Carolina - Asbury Automotive Group's Crown
  platform has added a Ford dealership in Fayetteville, North
  Carolina, previously known as Purvis Brothers Ford. Bill Childs, a
  Purvis principal, has joined Asbury Automotive Group as a
  shareholder.

- Plano, Texas - Asbury Automotive Group's David McDavid platform has
  acquired Plano Lincoln-Mercury, located north of Dallas.

- Deland, Florida - Honda, Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealerships join
  Asbury Automotive Group's Coggin platform, significantly growing the
  platform's presence in the Orlando market. The executive management
  team of Ed Lacey, Paula Tabar and Joe Umbriano will continue to have
  management responsibility for the Deland dealerships and have become
  Asbury Automotive Group shareholders.

- Little Rock, Arkansas - Asbury Automotive Group's McLarty platform
  acquired Arkansas' sole Volvo franchise from Jones Volvo in Little
  Rock. McLarty will relocate the franchise to its Premier dealership
  group, where it will join BMW and Lincoln- Mercury in a luxury
  dealership.

	   Brian E. Kendrick, President and Chief Executive Officer of Asbury
Automotive Group, stated, "We are very excited to add a number of
high-quality dealerships and franchises to Asbury Automotive Group's
well-established platforms. These `tuck-in' acquisitions will
strengthen our position in the markets in which we currently operate,
and will benefit from the implementation of our core growth
strategies. In addition, we are pleased to note that several
accomplished dealer/franchise managers will join Asbury Automotive
Group's management team as shareholders in conjunction with the
acquisitions. We believe this initiative distinguishes Asbury
Automotive Group, and has significantly benefited our performance."
