2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R

The SE-R is back! We tested the Spec V version with its 170 hp powerplant, a standard six-speed manual transmission, 17-inch wheels, a race-tuned suspension and special interior trim. If you like to get a jump, the low-end torque will move you out. We enjoyed both the peppy performance for in-town errands and a smooth ride for the highway cruising while enjoying Handel's Messiah on the sound system complete with hefty subwoofer in the trunk. The interior is cozy, particularly for tall folks in the rear seat, and the instrument panel is logical and user-friendly. The GXE version has options for side airbags and antilock brakes. The SE-R has a unique and enthusiastic feel to it and after spending a week testing it, it's easy to see why it has such a loyal fan base. So if you're in the market for an economy sedan with pep, be sure to test drive the revived Sentra SE-R. You'd be an April Fool not to. - Editor SE-R Photo Gallery |
